See the presentation: Social Media is a lot like... sex
That was one of the questions in a seminar of Friday 16 November about website development and internet marketing. This seminar is part of the CEED US Aid project to improve entrepreneurship in Moldova. The presenters of the day Nicolai Mihailiuc and Jack Delf provided some interesting information that could be immediately applied.
No outdoor opportunities in Moldova?
It was just a coincidence that I was invited for this workshop. During a cycle trip to Orhei Vechi I was stopped by a car with a tourist consultant and an owner of a tourist pension in Orhei Vechi. The tourist consultant told me he couldn’t find any organization for outdoor activities in Moldova, so I gave him the contacts of Leonid Rosca from Explore Moldova. I found his website when I was looking for cycling opportunities in Moldova. Later, Leonid Rosca was invited to join the US Aid project and he invited me to join this workshop on website development and internet marketing.
Vent d’Est and social media
Vent d'Est is already using a lot of (social) media. We have a website with an average of 20 to 30 visitors a day. Vent d'Est wants to improve the website though, but at the moment we are not able to change the structure. The CEED project however provides grants for improving the websites of NGÖ's and companies working in the tourism sector. So maybe the website of Vent d’Est will change soon. Considering facebook Vent d'Est has 1594 friends and regularly updates are posted. After this workshop Vent d’Est also decided to go on Twitter and Pinterest. All this allows Vent d'Est to keep you updated about the activities.
Where to find tourism info about Moldova?
Through the invitation I also go to see the website about Moldova Tourism: Moldova tourism. I was surprised I haven’t found that website before, especially as one of the topics of the seminar is the findability on google. There was however a good explanation for it, as the website just exists for one month. So finally I can recommend you a website with a nice over of what Moldova has to offer to tourists.
Useful tips and tricks
During the seminar I heard a lot of tips that I can immediately apply to my work. I also tried to apply them in writing this blog. One of them was: get a good quote that attracts the attention. Let’s see if this title made you interested in reading this article.
To come back to my title question: judge it yourself and check the website of Vent d’Est, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
